Longmont High softball fell short against Mountain View High School Tuesday evening 9-3. The Trojans hosted in a fun manner wearing throwback uniforms from the 1996-1999 seasons. Mountain View came out early scoring four runs in the top of the fourth inning and and two in the six inning but the Trojans weren’t ready to lay down. They retaliated in the bottom of the second inning; Angeline Mitchell (P) led off bottom of second inning with a hard single past the second baseman to right field, Ashley Dillow (2B) also reached base with a walk. With two runners on, Alexa Nielsen (3B) rips a homerun over center field to score three runs and change the score to 3-6. The Trojans continued to reach base every inning throughout the game but unfortunately did not score again.
Other highlights include; Mitchell went 2-3 at the plate, Nielsen went 1-3 at the plate with a HR, 3 RBI, and had 5 fielding assists. Grace Morrow (C) had 2 putouts, 2 assists, and caught 1 stealing. Maya Kierstein (RF) came in game in the seventh inning to have 2 fly out catches. Dillow: 2put outs, 1 assists, Ayahna Bustamante (SS) : 1 putout, 2 assists. Katie Alaniz (1B): 12 putouts, 1 assists, Kayla Gumeson (LF): 1 putout, Sherena Simmons (RF): 1putout.
The Trojans are 15-6-1 overall with just one game left in regular season. They will host Greeley Central Thursday Oct, 4th @3:30pm for senior night.
