Boys Varsity Swimming · Maher Trojan Way Athlete of Month

Tradition, Pride, & Excellence

Congratulations to Longmont senior swimmer Stephen Maher on being nominated April’s Trojan Way Athlete of the Month. Stephen was nominated by head coach Jill Legault had this to say about Stephen:

“Most of the day Stephen is a soft spoken teenager, but when he talks he is to the point, respectful and quick witted. What makes him a great nomination is the way he treats his underclassman. Multiple times this year Lisa and I have called on him to help demonstrate all four strokes and coach the newer swimmers on technique. He takes this task seriously and is able to ease the swimmer into the idea of butterfly, breast, his turn, or even their starts off the block. Stephen’s skill set is attributed to 8+ years of dedication to the sport. He also helps guide all swimmers through the paces when it comes to meets, what to expect and how to handle a bad race. Often we have found him stepping into a leadership role and I have no doubt in my mind he will continue to find comfort in this level and lead not only his team to continued success, but leave a great legacy of leadership after this season.”
